Centennial Book Club

Made (Written) in Oklahoma by Oklahomans!

Oklahoma's Heaven in 2007

In dealing with librarians over the years I've discovered that their Oklahoma Collections are the dearest to their hearts, so my goal for our Centennial is for every single Oklahoma Collection, in every library, both school and public, to offer as complete a collection of books by Oklahoma authors as they can afford. And with over a year to work on it, we can surely pull it off, right? I'm starting with the books of all of my Oklahoma writer friends and will add to the list as others are pointed out to me. If a book is about Oklahoma or written by somebody who lived in our state long enough to still call themselves an Oklahoman, then it's an Oklahoma book! I hope to include only books that are still in print, but if they are OOP (out of print) I will indicate this, but I can't guarantee it! Get your PTAs and Friends groups to help with this one!

The 200 plus titles in the Centennial Book Club (100 in each section... "Elementary" and "Young Adult") are either books about Oklahoma or by Oklahoma Authors, and I hope you'll consider adding every age appropriate one of them to your Oklahoma Collection! Remember that these are part of the Oklahoma Centennial Book Club, a club created by me which has no dues and only one rule..."Read everything you can get your hands on about our wonderful Sooner State!" Authors are listed in alphabetical order.

Maybe you can offer prizes...a little Oklahoma flag, maybe?... for the kids who read all 100 in the first year! Kick this off November 16 of this year and have the first finish line November 16, 2006.  By that time I will come up with 100 more for the year from November 16, 2006, until our really big birthday bash on November 16, 2007!!!!!!!!

Don't forget to get you some stickers that say Oklahoma Centennial Book Club...if you're short of cash, order them from one of those companies that print address return labels, as they will put anything you want on those little gold labels if there aren't too many letters! You can usually get 500 of those for about $6.00!

Happy Birthday, Oklahoma! and a good one to you, too!
